The Symbol Coat Rack is half art installation and half functional coat rack. According to the DESU Design website, …
During the coatless summer months the Symbol hangs as a purely aesthetic piece, as the hooks lay flat and belie their function. When needed, the hooks pull smoothly out to help you organize your stuff. Available in monochrome aluminum, or in white with vibrant anodized colors. Monochrome is anodized aluminum finish for both the housing and the hooks. Color has white housing and vibrant color anodized hooks.

My ideal chair … the Le Corbusier Chaise Lounge is the chair that I have wanted for years for my future library! I like the cowhide versions (like pictured) but it is also available in plain leather. So, one day …

Le Corbusier Chaise Lounge
From Furniture Store Blog:
The Le Corbusier Chaise Lounge is one of the most popular and unique chaises available today. It was designed with the idea of “serving” our limbs by providing comfort to the body. Simple shapes contrast with the aesthetic qualities of chromed steel tubing and soft leathers or hides. “The human-limb object is a docile servant. A good servant is discreet and self-effacing in order to leave his master free”. – Le Corbusier

Hello Easy Chair by Busk and Hertzog
Designed especially for Kylie Minogue, on the request of the Danish Broadcast Corporation, by Busk and Hertzog. This chair was accessed into the Danish Museum of Art and Design in Copenhagen in 2008 and into the National Gallery in Oslo in 2007. It has also been used on Danish television and featured in several other exhibitions, quickly becoming a design classic!
According to the designer, “its design is round, open and happy like a mouth calling out to people, asking them to come closer.” Not so sure about that statement, but they look like they would be comfortable!

The Gigi Easy Chair is currently on sale at Heal’s for £1991.70 (it was £2344.04).
The Gigi is the type of chair that I would love to have in our living room to use while watching TV or reading a book. The lovely curve provides plenty of space to relax into when reading a good book (or, more likely for me now, to edit my DPhil).
To be honest, I would prefer to have the chair in some color other than brown. If it was dark, black would be my choice. But, it would also be very cool in a brig
ht color – red or green, especially!
I can’t wait till I have a place to have some nice furniture and not the crappy Ikea^ pieces that we have now! While I am sure that choice pieces of second-hand furniture will always have a place in mine and Jill’s home, but we are also very interested in pieces of modern design, like this chair!
^ I am not saying that Ikea is crappy, just that many of the pieces which we have around the flat are not in the best condition. Additionally, one of the problems that I have with many Ikea pieces is that they are not made especially well (it goes with the territory for flat-pack furniture).
I was just browsing garden furniture at Heal’s and came across this interesing chair. This black blow-molded polyethylene chair would make a great statement piece in a modern home or garden, especially if you happen to live in one of those big, white boxes of a house. I could even see it in an ultra-modern minimalist nursery!
But, I have an even better idea for what to do with one (or even, a couple) of these chairs … I would use them on a great patio/porch to have a relaxing evening drink. If only I had a nice porch or patio that I could put them on … well, maybe at some point in the future.
If you like it, you can buy it for £973.83 from Heal’s.
