Wicked Plants by Amy Stewart is entertaining but slightly disappointing! Interesting little book that provides some of the basic details about many poisonous plants, but don’t think that you will learn anything more than the basics from it. The illustrations are useful for identification and while scientific names are given, the descriptions are too vague to be of real use. If you want to identify most of the plants mentioned in her book, you better find a better resource than this! On the other hand, her anecdotes and botanical asides are entertaining and it is full of factoids that one can use when engaged in horticultural conversation. Overall, a decent little garden book that may be worth the space on the bookshelf for its entertainment and decorative value.
