Cool Custom Cycles by A.N.T.
A.N.T. is a custom bicycle builder based in Massachusetts and they build some amazing looking bikes! They focus on bikes for transportation (aka commuters) and not fancy mountain bikes or racers … a business that developed out of the owner’s personal experiences as much as any other thing. Plus, they are truly bespoke creations … with many options to customize for your needs and up to 188 colors to choose from for the frame/rims. From what I have seen on their website, I think
that I would go for the Boston Roadster.
The BR is a classy urban bike that comes fully equipped with all of the gear necessary to tackle the toughest commute. For $1950, the hand-built bike comes with the following as standard:
- Choice of Color (can be two-tone – see image)
- Dynamo hub with front & rear lights
- Brooks sprung leather saddle
- Custom front flatbed rack with bungee net
- a WALD rear pannier rack
- WALD swept back handlebars
- WALD fenders and up right
- a “Full Suit” chainring
- a 3/4 chain guard
- Brass Bell from VO Imports
- flutted seat post
- zinc-plated ‘rust buster’ chain
- dual-leg center stand
- rubber block pedals
- and STYLE!
While some very nice commuter bikes are cheaper, such as the Pashley, A.N.T. bikes are built in the USA with a vast majority of American components. Yet, more important to me, they are bespoke … built for me and only me … not on an assembly line where dozens of exact duplicates are created every day/hour/minute.
Having ridden a bike nearly everyday for the last several years to get around town, I have always wanted that special cycle that would get me to work in style. This is such a cycle … one that I would love to own and would ride around town (really, any town) with pride.
