Morgan Aero SuperSports
Well, this is clearly not a pedal car, but it is a new Morgan sportscar! As another part of the Morgan centenary celebrations, they are introducing the Aero SuperSports.
Designed and engineered in house, the Morgan Aero SuperSports is a lightweight aluminium sports car with a luxurious specification. The interior features a comfortable combination of polished hardwoods, hand stitched leather and electronic technology to create a driving environment that is efficient, ergonomic and sumptuous. In spite of all this opulence the overall weight of the car is still minimal so the car is responsive to driver inputs and economical to run. The unique way Morgan can achieve this is down to our use of aircraft style superformed aluminium outer panels and the skills of our craftsmen to hand finish the assembly of each car.
Part classic
Morgan design and part modern technology, this new car looks wonderful! Similar to the AeroMax that they produced for 2008 and 2009, these cars are completely different than the traditional Morgans, which are built around an ash frame (yes, a wooden frame). Both the SuperSport and the AeroMax are made from aluminum frames and the frame has been used to compete in the 2009 FIA GT3 Championship – which is basically an amatuer circuit for nearly production cars.
Since first seeing a Morgan on Top Gear several years ago, I have always thought that they were exceptionally good looking cars (except for the short mistake of the inwardly cocked headlamps they used for a few years on the Aero 8).
Inside it, this interior makes your average American car look like a child’s car (one of those red and yellow plastic deals)! Not only would you arrive in style but also in comfort … surrounded by real wood and hand-stitched leather. If I was going to have a sports car, the Morgan would be very high on my list of dream cars! Driving one of these through the North Carolina mountains would be simply amazing and make the boring drives to see family a lot more interesting!
The SuperSport is being produced for 2010 and is anticipated to cost around £108,000 plus VAT for right hand drive or €140,000 plus tax for left hand drive ($195,000 at the current exchange rate of 1 EUR = 1.38651 USD).
